Host Family Program!
Thank you for your interest in becoming a host family for the Wichita Wingnuts Baseball Team. We need generous and willing families to open their homes to players and players with family ( wife or wife and child ) for the 2010 season. The host family program is a vital part of our baseball program and community. We believe the quality of people in the greater Wichita area will set our host family program apart from the rest of the league.
There is some background information every potential host family needs to know before they sign up. We, as an organization, offer this information to you in order to ensure the best possible experience for our players and there families, as well as you and your family.
Host families invite a player or a player and his family into their home for the duration of spring training, regular season, and through the playoffs. Players are paid on a seasonal basis, and unlike affiliated players, earn very little for their hard work and dedication. As a host family, it would be your responsibility to provide your player with a stable, clean, and healthy environment. Additionally, because the players will be stretched financially to follow their dreams, host families with the ability, means, and thoughtfulness to provide meals to their players during home-stands and those located within Wichita city limits will be given first priority.
Host families are not financially compensated, but the chance to experience the day to day trials and tribulations of a professional ballplayer is an opportunity few people will get to witness. Professional ballplayers are rising stars, falling stars, shooting stars and athletes with stars in their eyes. You, as a host family, will be a big part of their success in Wichita and in their career as a baseball player. The better the "home" environment, the better the player's performance.
Host families have a large responsibility, but there are perks for taking on that responsibility. Mainly, you will become a member of the Wichita Wingnuts Baseball Team and family. Other benefits given to host families are:
- Lower Box season tickets for each family member residing in the host household, season ticket benefits are:
- Reserved seats for all home games included in package
- Unused tickets can be redeemed for ANY regular season home game
- Free priority parking

In addition to these benefits you will have the option to join the Wingnuts Booster Club, some of the benefits are listed below.

Again, we want to stress our commitment to our host family program. We did not get in this business to be 2nd best. Therefore, we will strive to make our players and our host families as compatible as possible to avoid potential problems, and that requires an application and interview process. In addition please keep in mind that as players are traded or released you may be called upon to house a player on short notice or before we have had a chance to interview him for compatibility. If you or the player find there are any compatibility problems we will do our best to rectify the trouble in as short amount of time as is possible.
